I’ve been thinking about writing a recovery blog for a long time. My original intent had been to call it sidelined, because for a long time I felt my life had been completely sidelined due to mental health and addiction issues.
I had originally thought I would use it to document my way through the mental health and addictions treatment process – posting hopefully humorous anecdotes along the way.
But now I see myself in recovery and want to post about what I’m doing to further my recovery. I’ll still post the occassional funny anecdote from treatment experiences – because you have to laugh or else you’ll cry.
I’ll also post reviews of books that I’ve found helpful and links to on-line sites that have supported my recovery.
As a disclaimer, I’m pro-psychiatry and pro-meds. I wouldn’t be where I am today without both.
